Service Projects: These are not done just so that the Y.O.U.ers can complete their 12 hours to attend June Rally or other events. Service is really Unity Beliefs in action. It gives everyone involved the opportunity to give their Love and share their gifts with the church and surrounding community. It also allows each individual to see their own power of creation, as they send their energy into the project and change the world (even if it is in a small way). Fundraisers: This allows the chapter to have a little but more freedom in its activities. The chapter to could use the money to hold a lock in, a pizza party, or even donate it to charity. The place that it is used most often is to aid the chapter in coming to events. |

The Great Lakes Region Youth of Unity By Laws dictate that the purpose of the local Y.O.U. chapter is to: (a) Teaches the individual the Unity way of life by practicing Unity principles. (b) Involves the individual in actual prayer and meditation experiences. (c) Promotes the ideal of individuals working together and enjoying the fellowship of friendship. (Article II Section 2 Clause 1 a, b and c) This purpose adresses the basics of what a Sunday meeting should have. Below is a list of all the things that should be in the Sunday meeting in one order that works well. -Greeting and Opening Circle -Joy Songs -Opening Prayer, Meditation, and Daily Word -Beginning Activity -Lesson Content -Interactive Activity -Love Offering -Closing Circle -Join With Congregation
For more information on the suggested Sunday format along with information on how to enrich your chapters lessons to make them more effective for the teens. Download the Chapter Essentials Document. Although not directly stated in the YOU by-laws, another essential part to any chapter is the completion of service projects and fundraisers. A service project is any event where a service is given without any form of repayment. These projects can and should be held both within the church congregation and the surrounding community. Fundraisers are somewhat like service projects except that there is a monetary return for whatever is done. They work best if they are held within the church and community. |
