Fun Fact: It's possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not downstairs.
Quote: “To go to Rome means great labor and little profit; the king you seek can only be found there if you bring him within yourself” – unknown
Affirmation: I know things; I am open to knowing more.
Goal for the Week: Define some goals for the coming school year, and write them down.
Food for Thought: Why in the world am I on this giant rock? Why do people make mistakes? These are questions on the long list of questions that don’t have answers. For some it may be easy to come up with “answers” to these questions, but when questioned about their “answers”, many people often don’t really know why they think the way they do. Perhaps the answers were handed down to them before they took the time and effort to really think for themselves. Some people think they have the answers, so they go around convincing others to adopt them to as their own. Let’s face it, humans don’t like being wrong, so it’s a lot easier for us to accept someone else’s answers. If lots of other people think something is true, then that’s what we decide to believe. There is comfort in numbers. It’s like cheating off of someone on a test; you don’t second guess their answers before turning in the test because you don’t know the answers yourself. What I love about Unity is that it’s fine to go back and continue to change your answers, and in the process discover even more questions.
Note from Jo: Something I think we can all identify with: The Power of Discipline - By Brian Tracy "Why are some people more successful than others? Why do some people make more money, live happier lives and accomplish much more in the same number of years than the great majority? I started out in life with few advantages. I did not graduate from high school. I worked at menial jobs. I had limited education, limited skills and a limited future. And then I began asking, "Why are some people more successful than others?" This question changed my life. "
"Over the years, I have read thousands of books and articles on the subjects of success and achievement. It seems that the reasons for these accomplishments have been discussed and written about for more than two thousand years, in every conceivable way. One quality that most philosophers, teachers and experts agree on is the importance of self-discipline. As Al Tomsik summarized it years ago, "Success is tons of discipline." The most important success principle of all was stated by Thomas Huxley many years ago. He said, "Do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not."
"He went on to say, "There are 999 other success principles that I have found in my reading and experience, but without self-discipline, none of them work." Self-discipline is the key to personal greatness. It is the magic quality that opens all doors for you, and makes everything else possible. With self-discipline, the average person can rise as far and as fast as his talents and intelligence can take him. But without self-discipline, a person with every blessing of background, education and opportunity will seldom rise above mediocrity."
Ever have the experience of spending more time thinking about the task at hand than it would actually take to do the task!!

To Clarify our wording of Regional Events. There is only one Rally and that is "June Rally". Fall is referred to as "Fall Retreat" and the
Sub-Regional Events are called just that, either "Eastern Sub-Regional" or "Western Sub-Regional".
Smile Time: There were two old guys, Abe and Sol, sitting on a bench in a park feeding pigeons and talking about baseball, just like they did every day. Abe turns to Sol and says, "Do you think there's baseball in heaven?" Soloman thinks about it for a minute and replies, "I dunno, Abe. But let's make a deal: If I die first, I will come back and tell you -- and if you die first, you come back and tell me -- if there is baseball in heaven." They shake on it and, sadly, a few months later poor Abe passes on. One day soon afterward, Sol is sitting there feeding the pigeons by himself when he hears a voice whisper, "Sol... Sol...." Sol responds, "Abe! Is that you?" "Yes it is Sol," whispers the spirit of Abe. Sol, still amazed, asks, "So, is there baseball in heaven?" "Well," says Abe says, "I got good news and I got bad news." "Gimme the good news first," says Sol. Abe says, "Well... there is baseball in heaven." Sol says, "That's great! What news could be bad enough to ruin that!?" Abe sighs and whispers, "You're pitching on Friday.
