Fun Fact: When glass breaks, the cracks move at speeds of up to 3,000 miles per hour.

Quote: "The mind determines what is possible. The soul surpasses it." -Pilar Coolinta

Bible Quote: "Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it." Ezra 10:4

Service project: Every year my chapter goes and puts together "Birthday Bags". Birthday bags are like little kits that you put together and are sent out to a young child who's family may not be in the best position to throw them a party. So you put cake mix and frosting in their, along with party favors that they can pass out for their friends, utensils for

them to use. Lastly you give them a gift just for them. What better way to make someones day? And what better day to do so?

Food For Thought: Something I've noticed since being back at school this year is that this "Homework Overload" that I always seem to get doesn't exist for me this year. Now I "enjoy" (I use the term loosely) doing homework just as much as the next person, and I always drudged through it just because you have to. My thought process would always be so negative. I just really didn't have any real motivation for doing it, the only reason anything got finished at all was because if I didn't, I was toast when grades were to come out. But there was just something that was different this time. I spent so long just trying to figure that simple question out, "What's Different this time around?" When I got the answer I couldn't believe what I was saying. I actually wanted to spend time on schoolwork. In my own mind it was like treason to admit to, but the more I let it sit with me the easier it was to accept. I have this strange drive that I've never had before, "Doing Homework before hanging out" "NON-Procrastination" all things I've lived by for my entire high school career. What startled me more was that I was the one who pushed it. It made me realize that people will always make suggestions for you, people will ALWAYS somehow know what it is you should do to make your life better. In reality though, only You can make the decision. Many times, you won t regret it. Now that I know what it feels like to have the rest of the day ahead of me without the "Work-Overload" hanging over me... I couldn't force myself back into my old habits. It just takes that initial push, and once you experiance the benefits, you know that it's the right way to be.

Affirmation: I am a child of God, therefor I am limitless!

Note From Jo: I’m sure you have heard the question, “Why do bad things happen to good people”. When unpleasant experiences of life happen, we want answers, we want to blame someone or something, maybe even God. Why did God let this happen? And sometimes we do not have answers. But what we do know is, what is going on in the world is a result of the choices we make. One person’s choice can have a profound effect on many others. It seems that the threat to democracy and way of life is greed and not honesty and integrity. We have been given “Free Will” and with that responsibility. Realize we are responsible for life, the choice to become conscious, discover our true self, fulfill life’s purpose and live authentically. We have free will to make choices, but not the outcome of those choices. We have free will to follow the guidance we receive or ignore it. Much of life’s unhappiness and frustrations occur when life is lived unconsciously. Everything in our life starts with us. When we decide to be conscious, be aware, pay attention, we along with God, become co-creators of what happens in our lives and live from the inside – out!! Imagine what the world would be like if we all lived this way.........................

What Girard has been up to!: Well at Unity Girard we have been up to quite a bit ;). We have a Jr. Creative Writing group that writes our quarterly news letter that is for the youth, by the youth. The parents love it and look forward to it as much as the kids do. We have a Jr. Prayer Shawl Ministry that has been knitting squares then sewing them together to make blankets that will be donated. YOU has also made no sew throws they wanted to donate to children who are in shelters. We had our first "move up" ceremony and the YOU'rs really did a great job mentoring those who were moving up to make the transition smooth. They are now greeting with the adults any time we have a 5th Sunday, and they did a magnificent job of this. They will be hosting Friendship Sunday on Nov 1st after church and they will be making all the cookies that will be served. They are doing the Vespers Service in Dec. they will be doing You Are Christmas: A Metaphysical Christmas Reading. As soon as I saw this piece I knew YOU had to do it, so at my weekly meeting with Ric I showed it to him and he was very excited to let the YOU do the service the first Sunday in Dec. We did a really great thing in August called "Who am I ?". We came up with a list of biblical figures and gave it to the kids, they then looked up the characters in the bible to figure out who they wanted to be, they wrote down three clues to their identity on index cards and came to church dressed in character. That day was our annual picnic so while the adults were eating, our biblical cast went from table to table to give the clues so people could guess, at first the adults were participating because they wanted the prize for whoever wrote down the correct answers which was a gift certificate for the book store, but soon the adults were having fun with this. What was so interesting was that many people don't have much biblical knowledge so they were learning from the youth! Oh and we had a lock-in where they YOUers included all the Uniteens into their activities and encouraged them to participate, as well as taking the ones who were moving up and telling them stories of their own experiences. It was amazing to watch. YOU will participate in the World Day of Prayer and then will be attending a dress rehearsal at our local theater for the Elephant Man which will be a special treat. That's it for now from Unity Girard! What the regional Team has been up to: Fall is almost here! There is so much to prepare for, and we can hardly believe it's only one short month away!

With Peace and Love, Your Regional Team
