Fun Fact: Alaska has the highest percentage of people who walk to work.
Quote: "For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven."- Ecclesiastes
Affirmation: I am an advanced being. I choose the high road, every time.
Goal for the Week: Cut back on the texting, Facebooking, and phone chats. Enjoy those that are physically around you; be present in the moment, physically and mentally.
Food for Thought: Last weekend I was at a paintball mega-scenario which is essentially mini war with about a thousand or so people. I was with my best friend since I was like three. I thought it would be one of the highlights of my summer, and it was, but for a totally different reason than I initially thought.
I used to really be into paintball, but because of one reason or another, I never had the chance to go paintballing after I really got into Y.O.U. When the scenario began I was so dang exited I told myself that nothing would spoil my fun. Well, after a rainy morning, my shoes were nothing but mud and a little fabric, I had gotten shot about 6 times, and I could no longer see out of my mask. Part of my mind was screaming “WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?” while the other was screaming right back “THIS USED TO BE WHERE I GOT MY KICKS, NOTHING IS GETTING IN THE WAY OF MY FUN!” It was after I got shot in the neck from about 7 feet away (you will typically bleed if you get shot that close) for the second time that day, that the side of my mind that was wondering what in the world I was doing won. This experience was such a great reminder of how if something is not serving you, even if it once had, you should let go and let God.
Note from Jo: Notice when it seems as if all you are hearing is "what's wrong" you start to let that wear on you. One thing that helps me is reading some inspiring quotes to shift my attention. Here are a few I love "Life's not about waiting for the storm to pass......it's about learning to dance in the rain." Well I took that quote and did just that - danced but not in the rain and it really did shift my attention. Sometimes when you can't seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel, well “Faith is the ability to believe even though you cannot see." Sometimes being faced with choices, “Wisdom is knowing the right path to take, integrity is taking it." Get out in nature and go for a walk because "Nature is the Art of God". And finally watching my thoughts because "We become what we think about"................
Regional Team News: I’ve been working on all sorts of new features on the website (glryou.org), I’m excited to show you guys the new features soon! My chapter, Farmington Hills, tried having a Skype lesson with Livonia this Sunday, long story short; Livonia couldn’t find that darn password that you need in order to get onto the wireless internet. We will try again sometime soon! Clay and I are on vacation this week. Clay has a family reunion at what I understand to be the Middle of Nowhere, Michigan. I am going with my parents to stay at a resort in northern Michigan. If you need me, I’ll be doing some mediation on top of a remote sand dune! <-- add that to your bucket list… seriously! Region, I hope you’re doing well!
