Weekly Inspiration #18
Date: 11/08/09
By: Sarah
INTENTION: My intention for this inspirational is to reflect on the Great Lakes
Region Fall Unitreat and its theme "River of Peace."
FUN FACT: Did you know that it is possible to blow a square bubble?!?!? Impossible
- actually is I'M POSSIBLE!!!!
QUOTE: "If you love someone, hurry up and show it!" -Rose Zadra, Age 6
BIBLE QUOTE: "Lord make me an instrument of thy peace" Prayer of Saint Francis
of Assisi
AFFIRMATION: "I manifest and glow in Spirits passionate energy!"
SERVICE PROJECT: This past weekend, as some of you may know, was the Fall
Unitreat for the Great Lakes Region. It was a PHENOMENAL weekend, filled with
beautiful weather and beautiful people. For those of you who love to work with
people, the Uniteens are one of the best ways to connect with younger teens from
all across the Region and help them on their spiritual journey. This weekend was
one of the most inspiring times of my life. The general energy and creativity that
flowed into everything that they did, made me smile inside and out. Working with
Uniteens in other ways, perhaps within your chapter, is also wonderful. They have a
willingness to learn and create that which is beyond our normal understanding of
kids in this age. So take opportunities to help them whenever you can and connect
with them! They are the future of Unity and it is our job to see that beautiful Christ
light within each of them.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I would like to go back to the Bible quote. "Lord, make me
an instrument of thy peace." This is my favorite prayer from Saint Francis because it
sends a beautiful message that happens to fit right into our lovely Unity principles.
The first part of the prayer has become an affirmation in my mind. I often say it to
myself in times of hardship and also when I find life to be only beautiful.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
This reminds me of how we have to be the change we want to see. Where we have
problems in our lives, we have to remember that just to blame and arouse anger
does not bring the outcome we really want. Let us affirm love instead. We can
stand on the opposite side of the river from our problems and decide to make war
with them. But when we try to rush through the fast current, we will find that it is
often to strong a force to let us pass and then we are stuck and we can't get to the
other side. This is where we let the water wash over us and embrace us. We go with
the flow of life because that's in our Divine plan. So next time you have a problem
with someone or something, try to bring love, faith and understanding to the
situation instead of blame and doubt. Let us dare to be the change we wish to see.
Note from Jo: Congratualations to the Unitreat!! Wonderful to hear of the inspiring
weekend. I also want to give a big "Thank You" to Kalamazoo Y.O.U. Chapter. They
are hosting an "Adult Rally" on January 30th for their congregation. What better way
to bring awareness about our Y.O.U. events to the congregation. The theme has
not yet been finalized but will keep you informed. I want to encourage other
chapters to do this for your congregation. Let them experience some of what
happens in Y.O.U. Also, check out this YouTube link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF6I5VSZVqc It comes from the Association of
Unity's Website and it is presented by John Spong, an Episcopal Bishop, "Hell a
creation of the Church". Very interesting.........................
What's up with the team?
Well, let me tell you! Junior and I just got back from a fabulous weekend with the
uniteens. We danced and we played and we slept a little. The company was great,
the food was great, the weather was great and the feeling was great. What more
could we ask for?!?!?
Special News: Ben Georgoff has done an incredible job with our new website! Please check it out!!
