Fun Fact! Did you know that most elephants weigh less than the tongue of a blue whale?!!
Quote: “People are like sticks of dynamite. The power is on the inside, but nothing happens until the fuse gets lit.” –From Aim for the Heart by Tom Mathews
What a great quote! Deep inside we all want people in our lives who will help to make us all we can be. You can be that person. Providing encouragement, recognition and support will help light the fuse…and, in many instances, unleash a beautiful power you never expected to see.
Just a Thought: If I were to condense Unity into just two basic thoughts that always hold true they would be that: 1) God is good and 2) God is in each and every one of us. Going off of that I would stress that I truly believe that the compassionate love of God lives in me (and in everyone). When my heart is heavy, there is always someone willing to reach out to me. Their words ease my pain or burden. Their loving presence soothes me. When I am that person who reaches out and responds to another’s pain, I feel the same love of god flowing in and through me.
Compassion is the opening of our hearts, one to another, in times of sadness or loss. This compassion reminds me that we are all connected and that I need never to feel alone. The compassionate love of God is with me and I have the ability to do wonders with it. Sometimes I receive comfort, and other times, I give it. Through all of life's experiences, I am grateful to receive and express God's love for that is why we were created.
For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you.--Isaiah 54:10
To Live
I heard this poem in class the other day and I was profoundly affected by it. Never before had I put it in this perspective so read it and see what you think.
There once was a very cautious man,
Who never laughed or never cried,
He never cared, he never dared,
He never dreamed or tried.
And when one day he passed away,
His insurance was denied.
They claimed her never died.
Note from Jo: I was raised Catholic and as a child I used to go to Mass, which at that time was said in Latin and the Priest faced the alter as he said Mass. I didn't realize it at the time but the beauty of the church building,
the Priest in special robes, the Latin, chanting, incense, chimes and music, led me to experience meditation. I loved to attend mass, I even went by myself. When I walked in I felt as if I was walking in to a sacred space, something very special and unique and I would think, "wouldn't it be great to start each day like this?" What I didn't realize then was all of this represented that sacred space in each of us. I thought that I had to attend Mass to experience this "sacred space". Finding Unity helped me to have a better understanding of my early
experience being Catholic. Now I understand where we stand is "sacred space" and so I can start off each day
in that way. Each Sunday when I walk into our Y.O.U. Room, I hold that this is our "sacred space", a space
of love, respect, a safe place to honor the Christ in each person. Y.O.U. is a "sacred space" for us to create
a heaven on earth.....................

DID NOAH FISH?
A Sunday school teacher asked, 'Johnny, do you think Noah
did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ? ''No,' replied Johnny.
'How could he, with just two worms.'
HIGHER POWER
A Sunday school teacher said to her children, 'We have
been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But,
there is a Higher Power. Can anybody tell me what it is? One child
blurted out, ' Aces!'
MOSES AND THE RED SEA
Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had
learned in Sunday School. 'Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent
Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out
of Egypt .. When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build
a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he
radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up
the bridge and all the Israelites were saved.'
'Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?' his Mother
asked..
'Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd
never believe it!'
ALL MEN / ALL GIRLS
When my daughter, Kelli, said her bedtime prayers, she
would bless every family member, every friend, and every animal (current and past). For several weeks, after we had finished the nightly
prayer, Kelli would say, 'And all girls.' This soon became part of
her nightly routine, to include this closing. My curiosity got the
best of me and I asked her, 'Kelli, why do you always add the part about
all girls?'
Her response, 'Because everybody always finish their
prayers by saying 'All Men'!'
